TOEFL Scholarship: Here’s your chance to bag $10k to $5k as scholarships

I recently received an email from the ETS (Educational Testing Service) informing me about the TOEFL Scholarships.  There are 10 scholarships in all to compete for.  There is no application fee for the same. You would have to start your graduate or undergraduate studies in 2012 to apply for these scholarships.
Four scholarships worth USD 10,000: One each for studies in United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia and Canada.  Then there are six scholarships worth USD 5,000 for higher education in any other location.

All you need to do is fill up an application form available from the TOEFL official website and submit a 600 word essay along with your official transcript of grades. The topic for this year’s essay is: “Education can have a tremendous effect on the economic development of a country. Please provide a plan to encourage students to pursue Higher Education degree.”
All the above ten scholarships are exclusively for Indian citizens. If you are selected for the scholarships, then you would have to provide the letter of acceptance from the University where you plan to pursue your higher studies. The scholarship would be given to directly to that University to pay for the tuition fee only. Note that if you have received a full scholarship from the University of your choice, then you would not be eligible for the scholarship.
If you have a TOEFL score anywhere in the range of 110 to 120, then you stand a very good chance of getting yourself a scholarship. Make sure that you show your creativity through the essay and perform well in the Skype interview that follows once you are shortlisted.
You are advised to visit the TOEFL website to know more on this. Do check out the FAQs. I wish you best of luck for your future endeavors.  :-)
